Top 5 Podcasts of 2013 – The Wired Homeschool

2013 has been an up and down year for me as a podcaster, blogger, and public speaker. It’s hard to believe that because of my podcast I was invited to speak at two regional homeschooling conventions. Another amazing thing is the outpouring of support from all of you when I announced my “retirement” from podcasting (more on that in next week’s episode).

I was looking through some statistics for the podcast and decided to wrangle up a quick top 5 list for you of the most-downloaded shows of 2013. I hope you enjoyed listening to these as much as I enjoyed recording them. Here are the top 5 podcasts you listened to in 2013:

5. Covenant Eyes, iPads for Homeschooling, and Free Language Apps – Covenant Eyes announced filtering for iOS devices, iPads can be used by homeschoolers for more than just educational apps, and free language apps will help you parler français.

4. 3 Ways Technology Hinders Homeschooling – Digital technology is a great enabler for home educators. It allows parents to find information, enhance their lesson plans, supplement their curriculum, and so much more. Sometimes technology can be a stumbling block and be more of a hindrance than a help.

3. Is There an App for That? Homeschooling with Technology in the 21st Century – A “rough-draft” of one of the talks I gave at the Downstate LEAH convention discussing the ways technology can benefit homeschoolers.

2. Why I Sold My Kindle Fire and Bought an iPad Mini – Though I still recommend the Kindle Fire to families on a budget I own an iPad. Here are the reasons I switched to the iPad.

1. 5 Great Online Jobs to Generate Income for Homeschoolers – Sometimes homeschooling can be financially tough. Some families have given up two incomes in order to homeschool their children. Wouldn’t it be nice to earn a little extra income to either put away for a rainy day or buy that expensive curriculum you’ve wanted?
