About

What is a wired homeschool?
A wired homeschool is any homeschool that seeks to leverage technology to improve upon their homeschooling experience. Maybe you use the computer as a way to provide the primary instruction for your children or just as tool to enhance your homeschooling.
The Wired Homeschool is a weekly, topical podcast about using technology in your homeschool efforts.
Whether you’re just getting started or you’ve been at it for years there’s something here for you and your family.
I’ll cover topics such as:
- Online security
- Social media
- Purchasing computers
- Cell phones and smart phones
- Online resources
…and more!

A Brief Bio
I was born in Frankfurt, Germany and spent 7 of my first 12 years of life living in Germany. My family moved back and forth between the United States and Germany several times before finally settling in TX where I lived for 13 years.

I’ve been using computers since the days of the Commodore VIC-20. I have fond memories of typing in programs from the back of RUN, saving them to tape and hunting through PEEKs and POKEs to find errors. Since then I’ve owned dozens of computers many of which have been scratch-built. I’ve had a passion for technology since grade school.
In 1988 I made a decision that changed my life forever. It was a turning point in my life that I will never forget: I accepted Christ as my savior. On June 24th, at Lakewood Church in Houston, TX around 8PM I made that decision. My youth pastor said I slid into the altar but I don’t remember that. I just remember coming face-to-face with the reality that God was real and He loved me despite my inadequacies.
In 1994 when I subscribed to my first dial-up account the Internet was much smaller and Mosaic was the dominant web browser. Since then I have been fascinated with the Internet. I quickly learned HTML and posted a stupid web page. Fortunately, archive.org wasn’t around then.
Since then I’ve gotten married, become the father of 7 children and can hardly keep up with all of the changes in technology and my personal life.
Fast Facts
I’ve been training in martial arts since 2006, I earned my black belt in Tae Kwon Do in June 2011. Before studying Tae Kwon Do I studied Matsukaze Shito Ryu Karate for about 18 months and earned a Green Belt.

I’m currently employed by one of the top technology universities in the United States as an Information Technologist (jack of all trades, master of none). I’ve been working here for nearly 10 years. Prior to that the longest I’d worked in one place was 3 years.
It is my desire to become a technology missionary, providing technical support and advice to Christian churches and ministries.
